Are you looking for a workplace where you can make a difference in what matters most – relationships between people? Then you are welcome to Telenor!
Looking for a workplace for the future?
At Telenor, you own your career. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to make the most of your dreams and expertise while contributing to technological innovations that are barely even imagined today. Innovations that we know will change the map for how we communicate and live our connected lives in the future. Are you looking for a workplace where you can make a difference in what matters most – relationships between people? Then you are welcome to Telenor.
We are now looking for two Datacenter Engineers within Backup, Storage & Data Protection to join our team Digital Infrastructure.
How you’ll make a difference with us
You will play a key role in building and running the core datacentre services that keep our business stable, secure and resilient. Whether your strengths lie in Linux, storage and virtualisation or in backup and recovery, you will work hands‑on to ensure our platforms are reliable, recoverable and continuously improving. You’ll collaborate closely with operations, security, network and automation teams to resolve issues, increase efficiency and strengthen our ability to protect and restore business‑critical systems. Your contribution will directly impact availability, integrity and long‑term sustainability across our entire infrastructure landscape.
We are currently looking to fill two roles within the following focus areas, or ‘cores’, in the team:
Multi-skilled – Datacenter Engineer OS & Storage
We are looking for a Datacenter Engineer with a solid background in storage, operating systems, and enterprise infrastructure operations. In this role, you will work across a broad technical scope and play an important part in the daily operation and evolution of our datacenter environment.
You have hands-on, operational experience managing SAN storage solutions from multiple vendors and a good understanding of Fibre Channel (FC) architectures, connectivity, and troubleshooting in production environments. The role is not limited to storage alone. You will work across a wide operational responsibility, which requires experience with both Linux and Windows Server operating systems in enterprise-scale environments. You are comfortable operating systems in production, understanding their interaction with storage, backup, and virtualization layers. You also have a good awareness of enterprise backup and data protection solutions, including how backup integrates with storage platforms and operating systems, and the operational considerations around restore, resilience, and data availability.
We value engineers who can combine technical depth with a holistic infrastructure perspective, and who are comfortable collaborating across domains to ensure stable, secure, and efficient datacenter operations.
Multi-skilled – Datacenter Engineer Backup
We are looking for a Datacenter Engineer with strong experience in backup, recovery, and data protection within enterprise datacentre environments. In this role, you will be part of a multi‑skilled datacenter team that collectively owns the operation and continuous improvement of our infrastructure services.
You will operate and improve our backup and archiving environment, ensuring availability, integrity, resilience, and compliance. This includes designing and maintaining backup policies, schedules, and retention strategies, performing restores and recovery tests, and continuously enhancing cyber‑resilience. A key responsibility is protecting data against ransomware through immutability, air‑gapped designs, replication, and encryption. Together with your teammates, you will work across the datacenter domain to ensure application‑consistent backups and reliable recovery for business‑critical systems on virtualised platforms, Windows and Linux servers, and databases. Automation, monitoring, and data‑driven optimisation are part of your daily work.
In this role, you will also contribute to disaster‑recovery exercises, maintain runbooks and playbooks, and support teams with restore procedures and incident handling. Structured change practices, documentation, and continuous improvement are expected and valued. You bring broad experience with enterprise backup solutions, understand application‑consistent backups, transaction logs, recovery procedures, archiving, and tiered storage. Strong troubleshooting skills, scripting/version control experience, and collaboration across security, compliance, and business teams are essential.
Are you the one we’re looking for?
We need someone who’s always on their toes! You have a genuine desire to learn and develop so we can continue to meet our customers’ ever-changing needs – today and tomorrow.
We are seeking experienced candidates (minimum 3 years) with strong foundations in datacentre operations across Linux, storage, virtualisation and/or backup and recovery. Relevant educational backgrounds include Systems Science/IT Management, Datacentre/IT Infrastructure, or Computer Science. You may have previously worked as a Datacenter Engineer, Infrastructure/Operations Engineer, or Backup & Recovery Specialist — ideally in environments where stability, automation and secure recoverability are key. Experience with enterprise platforms such as VMware, Linux, scripting/automation, or backup technologies like Veeam, Commvault or Dell Avamar/Data Domain is considered a strong plus.
Both roles follow regular office hours but may require on-call duty when needed. The position is based at either our Stockholm or Karlskrona office, with the option for hybrid work. Swedish proficiency is not mandatory but seen as a plus, while strong English proficiency is required.
Traits that help you thrive:
Collaborative and communicative – effective in cross-functional teams.
Structured and thorough, enabling stable and efficient workflows.
Ability to prioritise and stay calm and focused during incidents.
Curious and learning‑oriented — eager to adopt new technologies, share knowledge, and coach others.
Takes initiative and makes well‑grounded decisions within the remit of the role.
Our promise to you

Leadership based on trust and flexible working hours helps you balance work and life. We support you through every stage of life with our benefit package, including collective agreements, occupational pensions, wellness allowances, and customized insurance solutions tailored to your needs.

Through Telenor Academy and other learning initiatives, you’ll have the tools and freedom to advance your career. If you want to broaden your horizons, we are present throughout the Nordics.
